Thermal
printing is a fast, on-demand process that utilizes
heated printheads to generate clean and durable labels
and tags making it the ideal method for barcoding applications.
There
are two methods of thermal printing:
Direct
Thermal: The heated printhead transfers the image
directly onto heat sensitive material which burns
the barcode image and variable data without the use
of a ribbon.
Thermal
Transfer: The heated printhead transfers the barcode
image and variable data through a ribbon onto tag
or label material.
Commercial
offers a wide variety of thermal media for all types
of thermal printers from portable handhelds to small
desktop models to large industrial printers. Specifications
will vary by printer manufacturer and model.
